Laura Muir

Counsellor & Psychotherapist

BACP Registered & Accredited Member

My goal is to enable you to live a calm and complete life through self-awareness and feel balanced through self-reflection and insight.

I am a fully qualified and accredited integrative counsellor seeing adult and adolescent clients Online and in London Bridge & Surbiton. I have a focus on relationships and identity and will work with you with confidentiality and trust to help you examine the concerns you bring and develop greater self-awareness.

As a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I'm aligned with the BACP ethical framework. I am also a member of the British Psychological Society.

I work with adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds.

I have over ten years' of experience working with adolescents and adults in social support and educational settings. I am a BACP accredited counsellor and hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling from CPPD Counselling School in north London. Developing a positive and supportive therapeutic relationship is vital to me.

The work I have done with clients has centred around trauma and the attachments or relationship patterns that are developed over time. Many of my clients are struggling with their identity, anxiety, depression, abuse, isolation, sexuality, gender, learning differences, loss and bereavement, eating disorders, dyslexia, and other issues. This is a brief summary of the diverse concerns clients have brought. I have also been lucky to work with individuals from many different backgrounds and ages in my work in central and south London.

With integrative training, I draw from several schools to inform my work with you, such as the humanistic core conditions, gestalt philosophy, psychodynamic theory, and cognitive behavioural strategies. I ultimately trust that the client knows the best route themselves, though, and I am there to help you discover that and offer observations as you present themes through your work with me.

In addition to my training as a counsellor, I graduated with honours from the University of Michigan with a BA. While completing a MSc at the London School of Economics, I was awarded a scholarship to study the impact of local versus national efforts to improve relationships between different social or cultural groups. I am in ongoing professional development in specific areas of counselling and have taken several short courses on targeted issues.

I am a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and align to their ethical framework. I am a member of the British Psychological Society, as well, and have an Enhanced CRB clearance for work with young people and vulnerable adults.

I would love to talk you about how we might work together. I see clients at London Bridge, Kingston, or Surbiton.
